FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
COLUMBIA, S.C. (June 8, 2009) – Pure Fishing pro Bobby Lane outlasted KVD to earn his first BASS victory this past weekend. The Lakeland, Fla., native weighed in 97-pounds, 9-ounces of fish during the four-day event at Kentucky Lake. The 2008 BASS Rookie of the Year led wire-to-wire to earn himself a cool $100,000.
Lane was using the low-profile baitcasting Revo SX reels spooled with Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon. Lane’s key baits for the tournament were the PowerBait Saltwater Mullet and 10-inch PowerBait Power Worm in Plum color.
“Pure Fishing really came through this weekend,” said Lane. “They are the true innovators of the sport and it is my privilege to have them as sponsors. I wish this win would have come earlier, but I am thrilled to represent Pure Fishing with a win on Kentucky Lake. Everything from my Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon Line to my PowerBait Mullet performed as advertised.”
Surrounded by nearly 100 onlookers on the final day, Lane brought in his lightest bag of the tournament, 16 pounds, 15-ounces, to beat out the field. Lane was not the only Pure Fishing pro enjoying the Kentucky Lake atmosphere; Skeet Reese (4th), Britt Meyers (7th), Kelly Jordon (8th), Byron Velvick (10th) and Jeff Kreit finished eleventh. Pure Fishing pro Skeet Reese is still nipping at the heels of KVD for the BASS Angler of the Year Title, only trailing by seven points.
The Pure Fishing pros will be on the road at the next Elite Series event that is set for June 11-14 on the Mississippi River in Ft. Madison, Iowa.
