Pflueger Medalist – America’s Most Iconic Fly Reel

Of Interest

The Catskills are known as the birthplace of American Fly Fishing. Among the famous rivers of the area are the Beaverkill, Willowemoc and Delaware branches. Lee Wulff is just one of many that called the Catskills home. Wulff is the father of Catch and Release, a practice he promoted in the 1930s.

Lightweight and sporting the look of the traditional fly reel, the Medalist provides anglers with adequate backing capability for long fights with trophy fish. The reel is proven reliable and the click-and-pawl, precision-check-mechanism drag system provides the distinctive fly-reel sound fly anglers love to hear.

The frame and quick-release spool are machined from high-grade aluminum for tighter construction tolerances, precision operation and lower maintenance. The amber polymer handle adds to the classic look while also providing lightweight durability.

The reel is convertible for left- or right-handed retrieve and packaged with a protective reel pouch. The Medalist fly reel is available in three sizes and is also available in a combo package, paired with a Fenwick® Eagle® fly rod featuring classic Fenwick actions and cork handles in three offerings.
