The second generation PENN Fathom™ II star drag reel is built with a rigid metal frame and sideplates, now with added features to make it more angler friendly than ever. Featuring our fast gear access sideplate, any angler can service their gears and HT-100™ drag system quickly and efficiently. The PENN live spindle design offers long, effortless casts, while the power gear ratios (select models only) give ultimate torque for winching up deep fish. Magnetic casting brake available on 12 and 15 sizes only.

Amazing reel!! I put this reel through the paces as a charter captain every year. Its a work horse for me through the summer months catching striking fish. It stands up to heavy abuse of every day charter fishing with clients. It definitely holds up to the standard of Penn technology.

My Go To Rod for targeting everything from Sheepshead, Black Drum, Drum, Cobia and Kings...Drag system is flawless and I paired it with a Penn Rampage Jigging Rod and spooled it with Berkley ProSpec Chrome Premium Saltwater 80# Braid

I havent used it just yet but as far as feel and quality I think it by far more then I expected.
