The PENN International VI series is designed and manufactured in the USA of domestic and imported components. Precision machined from high-strength, lightweight, aircraft grade aluminum in our Philadelphia machining center. Our experienced crew has been designing and producing durable, high-quality reels in this facility since 1932. The VI consists of a large stainless steel gear train for strength and speed, and a Dura-Drag system which results in a smoother start up and virtually eliminates hesitation, even under extreme drag settings.

    I have other Penn 50SW reels, this model VI putts them to shame. I going to replace the other 3 to up grade to this model.

    VISX 16

    VISX 16 was recommended by the deckhands on a San Diego long range boat. They use theirs everyday with no time for maintenance. So I got one and caught three bluefin one night 155, 175, and 180 back to back to back and the reel makes a big difference getting fish to the gaff.

    The perfect reel for my needs.

    The reel is everything I wanted. I'd consider it a lifetime purchase. It will be used as a heavy duty deep bottom fishing reel. With 2 speeds and plenty of drag available it should perform admirably.
