Best reel I have ever owned for trolling. Depth gauge is accurate and helps me get to the desired depth every time. Reel is extremely smooth and durable.

This is a great real for trolling. The depth gauge appears to be very accurate and allows for the ability to get to the appropriate depth when you have located the fish you are targeting.

I own 14 older Abu Garcia Ambassadeur and thought I'd give the newer stuff a try. Grabbed this for laker trout, and wiper fishing. Got it home, released the bail, turned bait runner on, gave it a couple spins and was really thinking this would be great. Then...it jammed. Got curious so I took it apart. The mount hole for the digital line counter broke it looks like from assemble at the factory and jammed the main gear. Wonder how many are like this floating around. This is brand new, hasn't seen extreme colds, harsh use or been dropped.

I had my eye on these for a while since my 10 year old Daiwa Lexa 300LCs are getting a little tired. When the price dropped, I picked up 8 for my guide business and so far so good. I've only used them for a month so far so I can't comment on longevity, but, the digital line counters are much easier for the clients to see and use than the manual line counters. The drags are much smoother than any other reel I've used and the thick knobs on the paddle handles make it pretty easy for clients to bring in big flashers and heavy weights as well as fight fish.
If you buy this reel, take the time calibrate the counter to the right diameter line. The suggested mono equivalent for my 50 lb. braid was way off. Just measure out 50 ft. of line and choose different line diameters until the counter matches. Pretty easy and the reel stores the info.

First trip out I took it trolling for trout in a body of water that also holds Pike. Easily handled a nice size trout, and even a surprise Pike (29”) that morning. Very happy with this reel.
