A recessed reel foot keeps this round baitcast reel low on the rod, making it easy to palm and cast. Unlike the original ABU reels, this reel is made in china by an OEM. Unfortunately, a significant portion of load bearing gears are made of plastic. after 1 striper run, reel completely stripped the level wind gear, making and awful grinding noise and disengaging the spool briefly if quickly stopped. its a fine reel for bass and channel cat, but this simply cannot hold a candle to the c3 or c4. it's fine if you don't fish with heavy weights, but a season of 1 ounce swimbaits decimated the level wind gearing. unless you're throwing lighter lures, I wouldn't recommend it

Let me start by saying this reel is great by what it can handle for the price. I've caught tons of 40+ inch drums, 3-5 ft sharks, bass, etc., often on this reel with no struggles. Handles the fish great honestly if your looking for a good fight but not an overwhelming hour + one but my only issue after all this is a reoccurring problem with the clicker. I've had this reel for years as a gift from my dad but even within the first year owning it the clicker would just simply not make noise or occasionally would skip a turn as I'm reeling if the clicker is engaged.

I bought the 7000 reel and decided to get a reel for my brother and my fishing buddy. We went to Santee this week, and he caught a 32-pound catfish on that reel. He said it was great and worked perfect pulling in that monster catfish.

I've been extremely skeptical of these newer SX ambassaduers, and they can't be beaten for the money! I've had plenty of fancy round reels to sample and fish with, and none for the money come close to the performance that this one does. Is it THE smoothest- THE farthest casting- or THE quietest-? No, but it is simply a workhorse reel I've come to love for bass, pike, and even some small muskies in the northern Midwest. Currently, I own the 5600 and the 6600 and I much prefer the 6600 with the bait clicker and the larger capacity spool, I mainly use my 5600 for casting large 1/2 to 1-ounce spinnerbaits and freshwater drum rigs.
Overall, I am VERY impressed with this reel and will continue to use them until I make em' break.

I had bought this reel brand new I got one cast out of it and it didn’t go anywhere for how far it would cast and I reeled it in trued to cast again and it would not cast I had plenty of weight on the lure that is should have worked and I had made sure it was set right to cast and when the button is pressed the line release but it doesn’t release slowly it goes and stops repeatedly over and over and when it is reeled back in it make noises that are similar to sand being in the reel as if it was dropped in dirt it was brand new when making these noises and i am going to try to work to get a refund would not recommend this reel.
