Building off of our proven IPX6 sealed body and spool, we redesigned our Slammer® drag system to not only be better sealed, but also offer a wider range of usable drag, all while being bearing supported for extra smoothness. Adding our all brass CNC gear technology, 8+1 stainless steel bearing system and Hydrophobic Line Roller Bearing has made the Slammer IV the ultimate workhorse reel. ##Key differences for the 2500 are listed in the feature bullets.

    Smooth, reliable, excellent value

    This is my third Slammer IV purchased over the past few years. I now own the 3500, 4500, and 5500 models. My fishing is mainly northeast surf casting (Sandy Hook and Martha's Vineyard), and for this I prefer the 3500 and 4500. I find the 5500 to be a bit heavy and oversized for surf casting, so it's rarely used. I'm sure the 4500 can handle anything I'd be after, which is bluefish, striper, albacore, and bonito. Last year I landed a great 13 lb alibi on the 3500, with a matching Penn rod. It was a fantastic fight and the fish was good for the daily 1st Place False Albacore prize in the Derby (see photo). I like the smooth, quiet retrieve and excellent line lay. Casting is smooth and the bail is reliable, for the most part. I only snapped off about three lures due to the bail slamming closed on me during the cast, probably these incidents were my fault and happened mostly at night. I compared these reels to the Japanese brands and found Penn to be the best value overall. The build quality is definitely there. Recommended.

    Great reel

    I’ve used the reel for a little while and it’s great. Even with salt water in it it’s easy to clean.

    So far So good

    Only about 3 trips on the saltwater and a few lake casts, But the reel has been a pleasure to use. The drag is smooth and has landed some 3-4 ft sharks on 20# braid with a 30# mono leader. Finger mullet live bait And lure casting for reds and snook on the flats with a 7 ft med. carbon rod for hours is not nearly the workout of my old setup. Saltwater exposure is the test for the future to show, but for now it’s a definite keeper. Didn’t take any other pics, don’t like to handle my phone on the boat with salty hands, son took this one., price for me was more than I have spent on past reels times 2 held back the 5th star , that and the time I’ve had the reel in use. I own 2 / 2500 and one 8500hs slammer IV reels purchased in the last few months since I recently retired and treated myself to some upgrades in tackle. Had several Penn SS series reels that have been solid for over 20 years and still going. Hopefully I can say that in the future about these Slammers
