i have several garcia products . many of them are the older 7000s and 6500s that are bullet proof these are junk. so ive cleaned and serviced many garcia reels. i bought 5 of these a few months ago spooled them with line with the intent of long lining crappie or pullen crankbaits. they set on the shelf till 9/28/19. i went one time pulling crankbaits. 2 out of 5 reels failed cheap plastic gears fell apart . the first reel that failed failed on the second retrieve will 100 feet of line out with a 12 inch crappie attached to it. the second failure was actually on the third retrieve with just a bandit 300 attached to it. heres the evidence. i guess ill be trying to find replacement parts

I have these on all of my walleye trolling rods, and have had great luck with them. if i was in an area with larger average sized walleye, I might not go with these, but for our 18"-22" average fish, these were great.

Does anyone know how to reprogram the line counter from meters to feet?

bought about 1 year ago. went to replace battery for the line counter and had trouble removing battery retainer cap. poor design for removal. looks like a coin slot but very easy to ditort slot. now i can't find replacement.

The reel worked nice till it rained. The counter filled with water and it quit.
I have sent it in to the factory repair center. Quite disappointed as I had high hopes for the line counter feature.
