I have had one of these for about 25 years. It's difficult for me to understand reviews of products leaving one star because of some shipping issue or some other unrelated problem that has nothing in the whole world to do with the actual item. I have caught fish on fresh water and I have caught fish on salt water with this rig. I am about to restring it again for some inland stripers. There are more expensive rigs available (some are much, much more expensive), but at the end of the day all a traditional bait caster has to do is catch fish. These rigs have been doing that for longer than most reviewers have been alive. For this price point, you will never find anything better. W D Martin, South Carolina. The United States of America

I had a similar combo years ago and got this to up grade. loving it so far! Over the years i have had several Penn 209 and the 309 reels never had any issues with either one. Penn reels are some of the best on the market.

Received two packages both were smashed and bent up ,one box was empty.bought two fishing poles and only got one and no one has returned my message or got a refund.
