I bought three of these and currently two look like new with broken handles. They have a weak spot at base of handle and have a tendency to break real easy, don't buy!

Extremely noisy bail bearing right out of the box. (This is my 2nd AG pro max reel, the 1st I returned to midway) Noise stopped after oiling the bearing only to have it return added about 20 casts while out fishing. I bought the size 40. No offer from AG to replace brand new DEFECTIVE reel. The reel finish looks nice, but too noisy and can't use it.

(This is my 2nd AG pro max reel, the 1st I returned to midway) I contacted Abu Garcia and they recommended to oil it and/or send off to their rebuild site only to wait 5 weeks to use my new reel. Noise stopped after oiling the bearing only to have it return added about 20 casts while out fishing. By the time I spend money for shipping/repair and being out a reel I'll just go buy a different brand all together. I really expected more out of Abu Garcia (basically just exchange the failed reel for a functional one or minimum send out a new bearing).

Really impressed and happy about this little reel. We have so many different models of Abu reels and rods, so I thought with discounts and store credit I would try this little guy. Casts great with Stealth 6lb braid, has 7 bearings like it’s bigger brothers. Looks great, classy look. Have tried it on 5’4 ultra light and 6’6 medium. It’s performed in the cold, caught rainbows. I have liked it so much I ordered another. I have several reels this size with Lews, Pflueger, shimano and it’s at the top with all of them from the other $70 ones too twice as much.

I've used this reel a couple of years, getting mixed salt and fresh water. I always rinse my reels on return. The center axle (?) has rusted and had to be scrapped , polished and oiled. A week later it froze again. Great reel, but not durable enough!
