Never before have light line and river specific anglers had so many advanced techniques to choose from. The surge in popularity around advanced European style and competition style techniques has to some degree left rod design behind - not anymore. These technique specific rods have been designed, developed, and tested by some of the leading experts of modern light line methods to represent the most refined and usable actions on the market for these demanding styles of fishing.

  • Sintrix NSX combined with a greater % of high and high intermediate modulus carbon fibre
  • Lightweight blank design maximises line feel and sensitivity
  • Down locking reel seats on key sizes for balance improvement
  • Ceramic lined titanium recoil guides
  • Rod of choice for highly technical situations

  • The 9' 2" rods are perfect for dry fly fishing, offering:
    • Ultra-long leader capability for targeting finicky fish
    • Precision for technical presentations like "Spanish dry fly fishing"
    • Protection for ultra-fine tippets, allowing use of thinner lines
    • Versatility for standard dry fly techniques
  • The 9' 9" rods are versatile crossover rods, excelling in both dry fly and tightline/euro nymphing:
    • For dry fly fishing, they offer extra backbone for handling large flies or dry-dropper rigs, increased reach for mending and casting, and a soft tip for delicate presentations and tippet protection.
    • For nymphing, they provide extended reach for tightline fishing, a soft tip for strike detection, and a strong butt for fighting fish.
  • The 10'+ rods are designed for tightline (Euro) nymphing, offering:
    • Extended length for reach, a sensitive tip for casting and strike detection, and a stiff butt section for power
    • Down-locking reel seat for better balance
    • Low stripping guide to reduce line sag and maintain connection
    • Unground blank with ribs to prevent line sticking and ensure a tight connection
    • Snake guides in the tip to minimize leader wraps

    New Hardy

Really enjoying my new Hardy. Great nymphing rod and super for swinging wets. Very sensitive and smooth. Overall, a great rod and fun to fish.

    Fantastic rod

The quality, the action, and fish ability are great. I’ve owned many rods from different manufacturers, but there is nothing like a Hardy.

    10’ 8” 3 wt.

I came the Hardy when I saw they were offering 1921 3-1/8” Perfect (apparently it has been available for over a year now…) and recalled see some good remarks on their euro rods, which surprised me when I read it, but since I was on this site I decided to have a look at the specs. When I saw that they used a couple snake guides at the rod tip instead of only single foot guides I knew that this was a real euro rod that had been well thought out.

How would that be the deciding factor? Well, I have 2 ESNs (3100, 4100) that I built 10 years ago with all snake guides and a closeout G. Loomis (3106) that I bought 2 years ago that has single footers all the way up. After one outing with the G. L I ripped off all the single foot guides (the next day) in the tip section and replaced them with snake guides. This makes a world of difference in the usability of that rod.

Why? Because when the leader wraps around the tip area it tends to get pinched in the nip between the blank and the loop of the single foot guide. So much so that it requires settling the rod down and going to the tip to un-wedge it. This does not happen with snake guides, it does not even have the possibility to get pinched between the guide and the blank. I appreciate that the single foot guides are more economically attractive to the manufacturer (one thread wrap vs. two) but for rods that cost nearly a grand, that is hardly a justified design choice when the snake guides make for a better solution in the tip…

    Small stream-Euro Nymph

I fish mostly small creeks. Finding a fly rod that was built for euro-nymphing without being excessively long was difficult. This fly rod has worked really well for this use case. Finish, packaging all first rate.
