I went fishing fishing on my friends boat and caught a nice Bonetthead Shark on my wife's spinning Blackwater Uglystick with a Penn Firce III and it held up very well I have the conventional rod with my Penn 113w2 on it and I love it.

I purchased 8 of these rods for Cobia. Tip snapped on the first fish of the season. The remaining seven rides survive the rest of the season but it was definitely in the back of my head with every fish we hooked up. I hope that it was just a defect in that one rod. The stainless steel guides are heavy duty and hold up to braid well. I was worried the braid would leave grooves but they haven't so far. I still have smaller spinning ugly stick rod that is 20 years old and I was hoping for the same reliability. Also the yellow color is fading after one year. Didn't like the yellow from the get-go but now that it's fading and changing colors I'm going to have a rod builder cover all of the yellow on the blanks. I'm going to give these rods one more year and if there's another breakage I will update and just move on from ugly stick

on the 2nd day of fishing the tip broke off after the 3rd eye. Was still able to land the fish. Store i bought it through would not replace. Bought in June of 25 but did not use until halibut season in May 26.

This rod has turned out to be a great jigging rod for cod, Pollock, haddock and any saltwater fishing species.. I own two of these. One of them is paired up with an Okuma cold water reel and the other one is paired up with a penn squall 2.
