I purchased 8 of these rods for Cobia. Tip snapped on the first fish of the season. The remaining seven rides survive the rest of the season but it was definitely in the back of my head with every fish we hooked up. I hope that it was just a defect in that one rod. The stainless steel guides are heavy duty and hold up to braid well. I was worried the braid would leave grooves but they haven't so far. I still have smaller spinning ugly stick rod that is 20 years old and I was hoping for the same reliability. Also the yellow color is fading after one year. Didn't like the yellow from the get-go but now that it's fading and changing colors I'm going to have a rod builder cover all of the yellow on the blanks. I'm going to give these rods one more year and if there's another breakage I will update and just move on from ugly stick

This rod has turned out to be a great jigging rod for cod, Pollock, haddock and any saltwater fishing species.. I own two of these. One of them is paired up with an Okuma cold water reel and the other one is paired up with a penn squall 2.

I've always loved the products I've bought over the years and still have a set of the old style but found myself thrown off by the new colors when looking for a short heavy action 40 to 80 never managed to break one and I've splintered a Shakespeare tiger pole casting aggressive with big bait.

I ordered two heavy action 40 to 80 lb for my upcoming offshore trip. Today the rods came n they were not wat I ordered. They were 12 to 20 lbs. I call customer service voicemail only I email no response. I'm pissed now I gotta go out n buy from somewhere else.
