Handled the tough New York salt amazing for a couple months now, many keeper sea bass and fluke have out this thing to the test. Surprised about how sensitive it is considering it is so stiff. Reel is good quality to, not as good as my Squall but it’s half the price. Gets the job done and comfortable. Highly recommended

I purchased two of these rod/reel combos from Academy Sports in 2025 and have put them through seven offshore trips. One combos clicker failed. I replaced the spring and clicker myself, but unfortunately it failed again after a few more offshore trips.
That said, the second combo has performed flawlessly with no issues at all, which makes me think the first may have just been a one-off defect.

bout this instore at Blue Marlin Bait n Tackle at Topsail, NC, it was the first Penn I've owned, and it hooked 3 sharks, 12 croakers, 3 pinfish and 2 30+ lb black drum. It never failed, and once it was broken in, you could feel a croker swim by, well recommended for any mid-size game like lil tuny drum and black fin tuna
