"I make my living by traveling across the country fishing for bass in tournaments. It's a great career and I couldn't imagine doing anything else, but there are times when the bass don't cooperate. When I have some time off in between tournaments, I like to mix things up and spend a day or two targeting different species of fish.
"A lot of times, I see anglers who get discouraged when a day on the water doesn't go exactly how they expected it to go, whether they were fishing for bass, catfish, walleye, sunfish or some other species. Some of my most memorable catches over the past year have occurred when I was least expecting it, and they weren't even bass. I was able to land my first musky during a day off in New York, and I caught a big salmon fun fishing in Michigan. If you're always focused on targeting just one species, you miss out on the simple joy of catching fish!"
